ಅರಿಸಿನವನೆ ಮಿಂದು - Translation of AkkaMahadevi's Vachana

ಅರಿಸಿನವನೆ ಮಿಂದು, ಹೊಂದೊಡಿಗೆಯನೆ ತೊಟ್ಟು, ದೇವಾಂಗವನುಟ್ಟೆನೆಲೆ ಪುರುಷ ಬಾರಾ, ಪುರುಷ ರತ್ನವೆ ಬಾರಾ. ನಿನ್ನ ಬರವೆನ್ನ ಅಸುವಿನ ಬರವಾದುದೀಗ, ಬಾರಯ್ಯಾ ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನಯ್ಯಾ, ನೀನು ಬಂದಹನೆಂದು ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ನೋಡಿ ಬಾಯಾರುತಿರ್ದೆನು.

English Translation 1.

With turmeric bathed, and jewels of gold so bright,

In robes divine, I call you, Lord of Light!

O Gem of Men, to me, I pray you, speed,

Your coming is my life, my very need.

My Chennamallikarjuna, hear my plea,

I've watched the path, in hope your face to see.

My mouth is parched, with endless, deep desire,

Consumed by longing's ever-burning fire.

English Translation 2

Having bathed in turmeric, adorned with golden ornaments,

And robed in celestial garments, O Purusha, come!

O Jewel among Purushas, come!

Your coming is now the very coming of my life-breath.

Come, O Chennamallikarjuna!

Believing you would come, I have watched the path,

My mouth parched with longing.
