ಅಶನದಿಂದ ಕುದಿದು - English Translation

ಅಶನದಿಂದ ಕುದಿದು,

ವ್ಯಸನದಿಂದ ಬೆಂದು,

ಅತಿ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲಿ,

ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹರಿವ ಜೀವಿಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮನರಿಯರು.

ಕಾಲಕಲ್ಪಿತ ಪ್ರಳಯ ಜೀವಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲ

ನಿಮ್ಮನೆತ್ತ ಬಲ್ಲರಯ್ಯ ಚೆನ್ನಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನಾ?

Boiling from sustenance,

Scorched by addiction/affliction,

Wearied by excessive desire,

Beings flowing towards sense-objects do not know You.

All beings of the deluge conceived by time,

How can they possibly know You, O Chennamallikarjuna?

From worldly sustenance, they boil and burn,

By deep addictions, scorched they turn,

By vast desires, they weary yearn,

These souls who but for senses learn,

Your truth, O Lord, they cannot discern.

Engulfed by time's imagined, final doom,

How can such beings, lost in gloom,

Know You, Chennamallikarjuna, in Your sacred bloom?
